No brainer for me. Television. I dont watch much television to start with and if I did miss anything I would just go back and Bittorrent it and watch it on the computer later. 90% of television sucks these days anyway.

How do you feel about corporeal punishment?

I feel that it is vastly underused in our overprotective society. Sometimes a kid just plain needs a foot in the ass. And that is the business of the mom and the kid, no one else should stick their nose in unless its obvious that its gone too far.

Once you show willingness to use corporal punishment and use it a few times, the threat becomes enough of a reality that you dont have to use it much. Thats how it worked with me anyway...

GLLA Recap... [Aug. 24th, 2010|11:40 pm]

This past weekend was my 4th GLLA (Great Lakes Leather Alliance) weekend. I think it was the best one yet.

We were able to go because of good luck and good friends. My entrance fee was donated to me by a leather brother and amy won hers in a drawing. We also got bumped to a room with 2 beds in it for the stay in the hotel, which meant that 2 very close friends could share the room with us and split the cost which worked out very nicely. The only bad part of the weekend was Friday when I accidentally broke my cell phone by dropping it from a height of three feet onto the bathroom floor. It immediately flew into three pieces and the screen went all white and faded to black. It really wasnt such a big loss, the phone itself was a huge piece of shit, it was just an inconvenience and a money drain when I didnt need one at all. I wound up getting a new phone and signing a new contract and am happy though.

Friday I attended 2 classes, the first one was amazing and helped me understand my D/s relationship better and is going to help both of us further it I hope. The second class I attended was a class on sensation play using staple guns. Not medical staples either, these are electric and manual staple guns like you find at hardware stores with half inch or quarter inch staples. The class was very informative and really touched my sadistic side, I want to try stapling someday soon.

Immediately after the stapling class, I joined two of the girls from the room and we went for dinner. One of us had a discount coupon for an Ethiopian place near the hotel so we went there. Holy Hell it was good. Everyone orders a main dish and it all comes on a large plate which sits in the middle. No silverware, instead you eat using a bread type food almost like a crepe in consistency as silverware. We had goat, lamb and a salad dish with a side of collard greens and two different lentils as sides also. Most of it tasted amazing, I didnt care for the salad dish or one of the lentil sides. I do want to go back to eat there sometime though, it was amazing.

Friday night was a good night, I wandered down to the atrium and sat in the table area with a bunch of friends and met a few new people. One of the people was making absinthe, complete with sugar cubes. I have never seen it made or tasted it before so when he offered me a glass of it I eagerly took him up on it. Three sips later my face was numb. Then the small group across the table offered me something called Barenjager, basically a version of Jagermeister made with honey. It tasted very nice and when he dropped an ice cube in it became very smooth and honey like. Meanwhile I had made it through my first full glass of absinthe and was given a second one. I drank it too. Around midnight the table broke up and most of them went to the Rocky Horror Picture showing but I decided it was hot tub time. Very good decision. A very dear friend that I love a lot was also in the hot tub and we talked for a few hours, something we badly needed to do. She told me all about what was going on with her and I did the same with me and pretty soon it was like we hadnt spent any time apart despite it being months since I had seen her. This is a very good thing, of course. I spent some time in the pool and then wandered back to the atrium and sat with some new friends for a bit and then decided it was bedtime around 4:30am.

At 7:30am alarms began going off in the room and the girls started stirring and getting up for the day. It was Saturday.

I went downstairs around 8ish and hit the continental breakfast. One of the waffle makers had fried so there was a huge line and I met a friend in line and we decided to opt for bagels and cheese danishes instead of waffles. Peanut butter shmeared bagels are a highly underrated breakfast, let me tell you. After breakfast and an hour or so of talking and hitting up the vendor area, the Sprint store was open so i ran and got my new phone. Its a Samsung Seek, a decent enough phone which will hold me over until I can afford either an Evo or a Moment. Then it was class time.

The first class on Saturday was supposed to be on cupping and fire play but the cupping presenter couldnt make it at the last minute and it turned out to be on electricity and fire play. Basically he had a couple of different zappers, a stun gun and a violet wand. The wand was used in a few new ways I havent seen before and I learned a new way to use flash cotton, a way I might incorporate into my fire play. Also Saturday a guy from Bloomington asked me if I would be willing to come down there sometime and do a fireplay demo for their group sometime. Thats something I really hope to do.

The first class Saturday was the only one I was interested in so I wound up hanging out with friends and looking through the vending area and silent auctions the rest of the day. Saturday night was another great night, I got to see my leather brother receive his Masters Cover, the final piece of leather earned on a very long journey through this lifestyle and a really huge honor. I cried like a little girl with a skinned knee when he got it, and I wasnt the only one. It was a total surprise to him and the look on his face when the other Masters called him forward to present it is something i will never forget.

After the presentation and some time spent gathering myself back up, I went to the dungeon. I ran into the roomies there, one of them was having a very nice scene and the other was watching. We started talking and decided to do a cane scene together. I hadnt used canes in a while and pretty much used every one of my canes on her back during a very nice scene. I do love playing with this girl. We both had a very good time and then watched a few other scenes going on. Then I met the friend from the hot tub and we decided it was hot tub time again. After a couple of hours it was bedtime, somewhat early at around 3am.

Sunday is always a good day at GLLA, the brunch happens. The brunch makes me both happy and sad, sad because its the last major event of the weekend and happy because there is unlimited bacon. There were a couple of leather presentations also, one I knew about and was happy to see and another I had no idea was going to happen and made me cry again. Its good to see friends get the honors they deserve, it makes me feel good.

After the brunch there was much packing and loading up of the car and a last meeting to attend. It was a good meeting of a local group I am a member of and went well. After the meeting we spent a while saying goodbye to people here and there and then hit the road to pick up the dog from his vacation weekend and the cat from the vet clinic and then came home. Its always good to come home, as much fun as the weekend always is :)

Things I love:
1. Its where my wifes family is and I love them
2. Its where my chosen family is and I love them
3. Best. Sweet. Corn. EVER!
4. I do get to work with racehorses
5. Best bariatric surgery center worldwide

Things I hate:
1. Its Indiana
2. Too far from the ocean
3. Rainforest hot and humid in the summer, Arctic cold in the winter
4. They apparently call Indiana the Heartland because The Brains arent here for the most part
5. Its Indiana

How is it different?

Well, I loved South Carolina. The ocean is right there, the food is much better for the most part, the winters arent as harsh, I sort of miss living near a swamp for some reason. Ideally I would live neither place and could have a castle on the English countryside, but as thats never going to happen it looks like I am stuck here...

Answer time... [Jul. 15th, 2010|08:35 pm]
[Feeling |thoughtfulthoughtful]

I recently posted asking a friend here to come up with some questions for me and he has. So minofsin02, here are your answers :)

1. How's your health?
My health has vastly improved physically over the past 2 years. I have lost a total of around 220 pounds and can now walk over a mile at a time without dying. You are the one of the ones who made everything I went through worth it for the first time, by the way. When I saw you at GLLA last year and knew that you didnt recognize me and then watched your face change when you did, that moment was one of the very first times all the pain and change was truly worth it. And then P started running in circles around me looking for the rest of me and I was able to laugh instead of crying, which I was very close to doing :)

2. Rate how you see Obama's effectiveness thus far?
Obama isnt what I expected, and I dont think he is what everyone who voted for him expected. He was such a breath of fresh air after the eight years of absolute retardedness that W put on us that I think everyone, myself included, felt like he could fix everything in the first six months. We werent realizing two things: 1: He isnt Superman, he is merely a competent man for the job, he lust looked like Superman compared to the man in office. and 2: He had and still has a LOT of damage to undo before he can make any real progress. That said, the Democrats have done a lot of good work this past year and a half or so, and most all of it with very little to no Republican help. So I would have to rate him as pretty effective overall. He has and will continue to be lied about, put down for stuff that isnt relevant or true and that has nothing to do with his job or what he does, but thats just the way the political system rolls these days. Its a damn shame if you ak me, we are better than this

3. In what way do you relate to Milo Bloom? :-)
Milo is a cynic who tries not to be, as am I. He is also a bit of an anarchist who loves a good controversy and thinks that people whould be held responsible for their actions. I agree with him here totally. He is also just cool, and i try to be :)

4. Read any interesting books lately?
Right now I am hooked on a new series by my favorite author, Raymond E Feist. I finished his last series, the Serpentwar and have moved on to the new Demonwar series, the first two of which I got by joining a science fiction book club. I am also reading James Patterson, his 6th in the Womens Murder Club series and I have the 7th waiting for me. I have been trying to read more lately as opposed to going online.

5. Tell me your top 3 fav movies and why?
Wow, this is a hard one. To pick 3 movies out of all of them and say that I like these more than everything else is tough. Lets see...I would probably have to go with Star Wars as one of them. The original version of course and not the ruined version that Lucas destroyed. I saw it in 1977 at a drive in theater in my hometown and it changed my life. I had never considered that there was life outside of my town, much less elsewhere in the universe. Also on the list would be True Romance, a Christian Slater movie written by Quentin Tarantino. Number three would have to be Carlito's Way, the epic gangster film with Pacino and Penn. Its always been a favorite of mine.

Easy fix... [Jun. 11th, 2010|10:10 pm]
[Feeling |apatheticapathetic]

Theres a problem brewing in Arizona. It concerns what are called anchor babies. This problem is easy to solve.

The baby is a US citizen. Mom and dad, however, arent. They have to go. If they want to take their baby with them, signing away all citizenship rights forever, they are free to. If not, they leave it and go home. Simple fix. I am even willing to bet that given the choices, the impact on the adoption market in this country wouldnt even be that great.

Library time... [Jun. 7th, 2010|10:33 pm]

[Current Music |Robert Johnson - Hellhound On My Trail]

I went today and spent some time at the new library downtown. The wife was at a meeting of hers and I had time to kill so I deceided to go and check it out, seeing as I hadnt been since the great remodeling.

I didnt like it. I couldnt tell if I was in a library or a shopping mall half the time I was there. the layout was confusing and made no sense, the books were scattered over 4 sections on 5 different floors and werent very search friendly in the layout. All I was looking for was a single cookbook I remembered my grandmother owning and that I wanted to see. It took asking three different people and going to three different floors before I could find it. It shouldnt take that long or that much traveling to find any book in any library.

In the old library the books were grouped better and there were very specific sections for types and genres of books. I liked it a lot better and I wish they hadnt changed it. Especially since the majority of the money they dumped into the "upgrade" was wasted by shoddy construction that had to be redone twice.

Change isnt always good...

Can someone help? [Jun. 5th, 2010|11:41 pm]
I have a question that I need help answering. It involves my life and the life of a lot of my friends right now. Its something i dont understand and havent for a very long time now.

What exactly is the benefit of playing by the rules when it never gets you anywhere? When it never gets you ahead, and lately never seems to get you even at all. A lot of the people I know play by the rules of a good and decent society. They work (too much in a lot of cases), try to save, try to do the right thing at all times and never get ahead. At best its paycheck to paycheck for their existences and in some cases, including mine, even that isnt enough and pawnshops or payday loan places come into play and the true fucking begins. Add to that the unpredictability, stupidity and sheer apathy of the government in my case and it gets really bad. Yet we still soldier on like good little automatons, playing by the rules and taking the fuckings we are given.

Why? How much is enough? When does it end? What are the benefits? I dont think its selfish to want some benefits for playing by the rules, FSM knows the people who dont play by the rules get good enough things for their trouble, things that people who do it right should automatically have.

Am I wrong here, or overly selfish? I dont think I am but I wanted second opinions. Feel free to vent...

OK...time to check in [Jun. 5th, 2010|11:20 pm]
I havent posted here in a while now, and its time to check in and see whats going on.

I have decided that the world, or at least vast parts of it, have gone insane. We have people actually blaming President Obama for the Gulf Oil disaster. They say that he should have known that it was going to happen and that because he didnt act to stop offshore drilling, which from what I can find out has been going on in America since 1947, that he is to blame for the current disaster. I realize that the problem now is unique in that the well was a deep water well and that the company had no real disaster plan but that can hardly be anyone fault except for the company, right? After all, there was no real plan for a Space Shuttle blowing up in midair but it happened and no one rushed to blame anyone, even the people that were clearly to blame for launching said Shuttle despite adverse conditions. Thats sort of a bad comparison but its close to the same thing anyway.

The bottom line: Fix the fucking problem and then hold those responsible for the accident to task for what they have done. Boycotting local BP stations does nothing but hurt local businesses and owners, we have to go high up on the food chain here. Were this China, the people that screwed up would have most likely already been put up against a wall and shot. Maybe they do know how to do stuff over there after all.

In other news, I have pretty much decided to join my wife and walk a 5k charity walk. She has done two of them in the past month and really enjoyed them and I can get my fat ass off of the couch to help people too. Who knows, it might even kickstart me out of the latest weight loss plateau I have hit. I need that badly. I have some more weight to lose and want to start getting it off.

The wifes best friens and someone I have grown very close to is moving a lot closer to us. This makes me very happy. She is a wonderful person and I lover her a lot. Having her closer will be very good for her too. She is depressed where she is and needs to get away. There are better schools here for her too.

The phone suckage continues. I am on my third Samsung Exclaim in a year. They just keep failing on me. Now the phone I wanted, a Samsung Moment, is getting very bad reviews as far as battery life and wifi reception. We shall see, I am eligible for an upgrade in August and really want to move to a Droid phone but Sprint may not be able to get their act together enough to make Droid phones work well enough. I am hopeful though.

I am working once again with the horses out at Hoosier Park in Anderson. The standardbred season is going pretty well despite a shakeup in the boss department and the hiring of more than one retard as far as vets and assistants. So far they can be worked around but I think a storm is coming when the thoroughbreds start rolling in. Dealing with a thoroughbred is a dicey situation at the best of times, it can go bad quickly and unpredictably and you absolutely cannot show them fear or they will rule you. A couple of the vets are scared of standardbreds even so I dont know how this is going to work. We shall see I suppose. I tend to Twitter from work a lot if you want to follow me, my name is Northsidebill over there.

I am still a man without wheels. The truck died a while back and I had to sell it and there simply isnt money to get anything at all for me to drive. Its very quickly becoming a pain in my fucking ass and getting worse and worse. The money situation was getting a lot better but it seems that no matter how close we get to being caught up and in shape moneywise, something happens that isnt our fault and it fucks us thoroughly. Its getting really old.

On that note, I am going to close here for now. I have another post brewing in my head and dont want to combine them...
